"Cougar Town" gets renewed for season 6 but celebrate not because it is its final season. The hit comedy series will have its final 13 episodes in 2015.
Fans were quick to comment in the show's Facebook page. One commenter asked: "Who will I drink wine with now?" Another supporter said: "And the world shall always be a sadder place without 'Cougar Town'." Another comment worth noting is: "In the entire history of television, globally, redundantly around the world, there is simply not a better show than 'Cougar Town'".
"Cougar Town" was first aired in ABC on Sept. 23, 2009 but transferred to TBS on its fourth season (early 2013). On its premiere, it gained 11 million viewers. In each of its episode, it recorded an average of 6 million viewers.
As years passed, viewership declined yet the show still proved to be thriving because it was not typical for a studio-based series to make a successful transfer to cable network. According to Entertainment Weekly, season 5 of the show registered an average of over 2 million viewers and ranked one among adults with ages 18-49 (1.3 million viewers).
Brian Van Holt, who plays Bobby Cobb - the former husband of Jules (Courteney Cox), will only be seen in the premiere of "Cougar Town" season 6. He bids his farewell "to pursue other opportunities". Van Holt has an upcoming drama "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon. He has also completed filming "Ascension", a SyFy miniseries.
"Cougar Town" Season 6 stars Cox as Jules Cobb, a mother in her 40s. Other regulars in the show are Christa Miller, Dan Byrd, Busy Philipps, Josh Hopskins, and Ian Gomez.
The original series is the creation of executive producer Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel, Deadline wrote. Lawrence has three other shows on air: "Ground Floor", "Undateable", and "Surviving Jack".
Other executive producers are Cox, David Arquette, and Blake McCormick.
