The movie "Vacation" gets Oct. 9, 2015 release date.
The Hollywood Reporter wrote, the story focuses on Rusty (Ed Helms) taking his whole family on a vacation. Christina Applegate portrays the role of Rusty's wife. Leslie Mann ("The Other Woman") is Audrey Griswold, the sister of Rusty. Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") plays Stone Crandall, Audrey's husband and an aspiring anchorman. Charlie Day ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") will also appear as the river-rafting guide. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are also anticipated to do cameo roles.
According to CBS News, "Vacation" is the most recent outing of the classic comedy series "The National Lampoon's Vacation". In the first sequel, Chase and D'Angelo played as the Griswold parents in the '80s version of the film written by John Hughes and directed by the late "Ghostbusters" star Harold Ramis. The movie was a big hit, earning more than $60 million in U.S. alone.
Three more installments followed with both Chase and D'Angelo staying as lead actors. The last was in 1997 with title "Vegas Vacation", which received not-so-good reviews from critics and audiences.
As if the four sequels were not enough, "Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure" made-for-TV was shown in 2003. Randy Quaid played the title role. Chase and D'Angelo did not make an appearance.
Aside from announcing the "Vacation" release date, it is also said that production has started last month in Atlanta. At the helm are John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Godstein (who also penned the script). Producers are David Dobkin and Chris Bender while executive producer is Marc S. Fischer.
"Vacation" shares its release date with "Kidnap" starring Halle Berry and "The Jungle Book" of Disney. Will the latest installment indicate that the audience is not tired yet of going on "Vacation" with the Griswold family or will the outcome of this film see the end of a very long journey?
