Miami Heat roster and rumors reveal that Pat Riley is very high on the new player additions as coach Erik Spoelstra's boys show promise during training camp after the departure of Lebron James during the off-season.
President Pat Riley told Sun Sentinel talked about the Miami Heat roster and rumors as he said that the addition of former LA Lakers guard Shannon Brown and forward Shawne Williams will really help the team.
"I've always liked Shannon because he's athletic, strong, defensive. We're trying to create a certain mentality here. We went back and looked at his two years at Phoenix, when we averaged up the figures. And that's a little bit how Coach wants to play, run. And he's had I think a great training camp," he said.
He also talked about Shawne Williams, a former drug addict who was also part of the LA Lakers roster during the Dwight Howard era, and his determination to be better.
"The transformation of his body, physically, in the last eight weeks has been incredible. He was like 227 [pounds] and 15 percent body fat. And then we went to 241 and under 10 percent body fat. So he committed himself to really being a player," Riley said.
In other Miami Heat roster news and rumors, Fox Sports reported that the players are in tip-top shape during the training camp.
"Because all the players arrived at camp in shape and were able to pass the Heat's conditioning tests, the team was able to move quickly onto the business at hand. With many faces, head coach Erik Spoelstra began camp with a focus on getting everyone up to speed with their defensive principles before slowly working in offensive schemes throughout the week," it said.
But their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans in a tune-up game showed that there's much work to be done for Erik Spoelstra's boys, Fox Sports added.
