Even before the hair-raising finale for season one ended, FX had already given the green light for'The Strain' season 2.

Acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro, showrunner Carlton Cuse, and Chuck Hogan have been "learning what exactly we could do to function the best together, and what areas are the blindspots of each other" to make the next season even better.

Del Toro revealed certain plans for the upcoming seasons in an interview with The Collider.

Del Toro admitted that 'The Strain' season 2 will most likely be followed up with a third, fourth and fifth season.

This is because "the second and third book were very compressed. If you read them, they go to flashbacks."

Hopefully, season two will explain the mythology of vampirism and the origin of The Master.

"We learn Setrakian's story up to the '40s, in the first season," filmmaker shared. "In the second season, you'll learn his story as a child, and how he first learned of The Master. And then, you think you see the origin of The Master, until you end up tracking it to thousands of years before."

He added, "As you go forward in the story, you go back in the mythology."

The 'Pacific Rim' director further revealed that shooting for 'The Strain' season 2 will be his main priority in the next couple of months despite his busy schedule. The helmer currently has 'Pacific Rim 2,' 'Crimson Peak' and an unnamed "really, really bizarre" movie in line for the next couple of years.

He will be focusing on the next 13 episodes because he is "actually super excited to do the second season."

He added, "I cleared my schedule to not shoot until February of next year. I'm shooting a small movie, but I want to be there and I want to be available because I love this so much."

How excited are you for 'The Strain' season 2? How did you feel about the season one finale?
