You shouldn't call this movie a reboot. At least, that's what the Terminator Genesis star Jai Courtney says about Hollywood's new take on the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Asked about the Terminator Genesis plot, the 28 year old actor reveals that it is "not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don't know how you brand it correctly. We're not remaking one of the early Terminator movies. And it doesn't necessarily carry on from the point where we left off."
The official name of the upcoming first installment the new Terminator movies is Terminator: Genisys and it will be screened in theaters on July 1, 2015. As for the Terminator Genesis plot, while the actor is being vague about it, he did reveal that it will probably be catered to a wider variety of audiences. " I think in this day and age, the movie is much more likely to be a PG-13. (It will be recalled that the original films had an R-rating). "There were no f-bombs in the movie, but there'll be a healthy amount of movie violence." Courtney reveals further clues about the new Terminator Genesis plot. "We start in a place we're familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change. It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point."
The second planned Terminator movie will be released on May 19, 2017, while the third and last installment of the franchise will follow the year after on June 29, 2018. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the movies will be in back to back production and filming if the first Terminator Genesis 2015 movie proves to be successful.
This new Terminator film will see a new cast of characters to take over from the original one. Emilia Clarke (who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones) as Sarah Connor, while Jason Clarke (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) plays John, while Kyle Reese (Unbroken, Insurgent) will be playing Kyle Reese. And in further good news to fans of the original film, it's been also reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger will make a cameo in the Terminator Genesis 2015 film.
But what's a Terminator movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger? Courtney says, that it was "hard to imagine a Terminator film without Arnold."
Here's to hoping we'll see the former California governor in a cameo worked in to the Terminator Genesis plot!
