And a comeback. All thanks to some very mysterious tweets that show creator David Lynch has been posting as
now, the rumors have been confirmed to be true! The Twin Peaks TV show will indeed be returning to the small screen, 25 years after the show aired. And in true David Lynch fashion, the comeback was confirmed via a seriously creepy video, and it promised to air on the Showtime channel in 2016.
But what will this new Twin Peaks TV show be about? According to Deadline, the series will not be set in the 1990s but instead will be set in the present time, 25 years after the events that happened in the small town of Twin Peaks. There are nine episodes in this reboot, and all of them will be directed by David Lynch, which will make his fans quite happy.
While it isn't clear yet who among the stars of the original cast might be reprising their role for the new Twin Peaks TV show, some of the original stars are clearly excited at this news. The lead actor of the original series, Kyle MacLachlan tweeted his reaction to the news, saying "Better fire up that percolator and find my black suit :-) #TwinPeaks"
It will be recalled that the original series revolved around FBI agent Dale Cooper (MacLachlan) who is called upon to investigate the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the small, sleepy town of Twin Peaks, Washington (a fictional town). Its pilot episode was well received, ranking number 25 in TV Guide's "100 Greatest Episodes of All Time." The Twin Peaks TV show has since gone on to become one of the most successful shows of the 90s, garnering success in America and abroad. It has become a pop culture phenomenon, mentioned and alluded to in songs, comic books, video games, and movies.
