He is getting famous for his good looks, which had gotten him the starring role in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the bestselling book "Fifty Shades of Grey." But did you know that Jamie Dornan almost lost a role precisely because he is exceptionally good looking? The Fifty Shades of Grey cast member almost did not bag the role he is playing in BBC2's The Fall because his looks were thought to be too attractive.
According to his The Fall co-star Gillian Anderson (Crisis, The X-Files) Jamie's good looks was initially feared to be too distracting. She shares in an interview with InStyle magazine, "The initial intention was not to hire somebody who was that attractive. However, it was clear that he was very much the man for the jo. It didn't have anything to do with his good looks, although in the process we realized what that would do psychologically to the viewer. There was something intriguing about that, most definitely."
The actor, who plays a serial killer who roams the streets of Belfast hunting his victims, has revealed that the role has affected him quite so. The Fall is coming into its second season, which is expected to draw more viewers, now that one of its lead stars is part of the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey cast. In any case, the role in The Fall has taken some toll on the actor, who admits that some of the emotions he expresses on the show has been difficult to shake off. "You can't fail to be left slightly scarred by inhabiting someone like that for two seasons," Jamie shares in an interview with The Guardian. "I do carry elements of him with me in a worrying way. I find him relatable ... I have a deep understanding of him."
