South African-born English cricketer Kevin Pietersen wrote an autobiography in which he claims of a "Bullying Culture" inside England's locker room.
Pietersen was recently fired by England in February has said that "I will continue to play but deeply regret that it won't be for England."
But after that, he widely criticized wicketkeeper Matt Prior and ex-team director Andy Flower in his autobiography this week.
According to Ex-captain Andrew Strauss "The victim here really isn't Kevin Pietersen, or Flower or Prior. It's actually the England team."
For now, Pietersen wishes to reconcile with Strauss. He said "Straussy and I were incredibly good friends. We've got a patchy relationship at the moment, and I just wish I could give him a hug and say, 'man, can we just put this behind us?"
While Strauss had described Pietersen as England's "finest players", but went on to defend the person's singled out in his book.
Strauss said "Matt Prior had a massive impact on the English cricket team, both with the bat but also behind the scenes. He was very much the embodiment of the culture we were trying to produce, one of putting the team first."
He adds "Andy Flower is a guy of complete integrity. If you look at his record as coach, it's second to none. He rightly should be regarded as one of England's great coaches."
The news of Pietersen being removed from the team was given by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). He has been considered as England's all-time leading run-scorer across all formats and he scored 8,181 runs at an average of 47 in 104 Tests, in addition to 4,440 runs in 136 one-day internationals and 1,176 runs in 37 Twenty20s.
Pietersen responded to his removal saying "Playing cricket for my country has been an honour. Every time I pulled on the England shirt was a moment of huge pride for me and that is something that will live with me forever."
He adds "Although I am obviously very sad the incredible journey has come to an end, I'm also hugely proud of what we, as a team, have achieved over the past nine years. I believe I have a great deal still to give as a cricketer."
