The latest Jeremy Lin news is bad for LA Lakers fans as he suffered a sprain on the left ankle during practice. Meanwhile, he credited Kobe Bryant for being willing to mentor young players like him on how to be a champion.
"I think Robert Sacre kind of stepped on him, when they were playing five-on-five. He was in a little pain. He kind of walked out on his own, but he was in a little pain," according to the Jeremy Lin news shared by Byron Scott to the LA Times.
The accident occurred towards the end of the scrimmage. Accordingly, he will be reevaluated on Sunday when the team will have a rematch with the Golden State Warriors in Ontario, Canada. During their firth preseason match where the Lakers lost to the Warriors 120-105, the former Houston Rockets guard scored 14 points, dished four assists and grabbed four rebounds.
"The more I can play him, the more he's out there, the better for him but if that thing is real tender tomorrow, then we'll obviously have to sit him down," Scott said.
It's the latest injury news from the Lakers during the preseason as Nick Young suffered a thumb injury while playing defense against Kobe Bryant during practice, and rookie Jordan Clarkson is going to sit it out for about a week from a calf injury in the game against the Warriors.
In other Jeremy Lin news, the 6-3 point guard told Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters that Kobe Bryant has taken him under his wing.
"Jeremy Lin says Kobe's taken on a 'mentorship' role: 'That's something I don't think I've had in my past 4 years in the league,'" she tweeted.
"It is also worth noting that Lin feels that he never had anyone really try and mentor him in his previous stops. He has already spoken about the difference between Bryant and the previous stars he played with in James Harden and Carmelo Anthony, and this is just another one to add to the list," the Lakers Nation said.
