The Biggest Loser’s Chandra Maple: Reality Show Contestant Inspired By Her Grandfather To Reach Her Goal!

The Biggest Loser's Chandra Maple used to be a successful athlete, reported by People.

However, after an accident, things began to change for the reality show contestant.

In an interview with People, The Biggest Loser's Chandra Maple revealed that her career in sports came to an end when she was 15 years old:

"Growing up, I was always the star on the basketball team, so when I had my knee injury and that was taken away from me, I kind of lost that,"

"I didn't know what it was like to succeed anymore."

Weighing 341 lbs., The Biggest Loser's Chandra Maple turned her life around by auditioning for the competition's season 16.

Chandra narrated her inspiration to give the show a try:

"The biggest thing I had to deal with mentally was just feeling like I could do things and I could succeed and not be afraid of failure anymore."

Maple did not triumph in the competition. However, she has not given up working on her goal to keep fit and healthy.

Maple narrated that she has lost 84 lbs. so far by working on her goal on her own at home. She said, as reported by People:

"Life at home is fantastic. I got to come home to such a supportive community and family,"

"I'm really glad to be finishing out my journey at home surrounded by my family, who has been concerned about my weight and health for years."

Maple learned though that her grandfather had cancer. She vowed to give her grandfather the support that he needed.

She went on to say:

"We just found out yesterday that his cancer is back, so he is not doing very well,"

"This is a tough time for our family right now."

"I told him, 'I'm going to keep fighting and you've got to, too.' And he said, 'Okay, I'm going to keep fighting,' "

"We'll get through it."
