Fans of Kate Beckinsale's sexy Selene character in Underworld are going to be very happy with the news that has surfaced today. It turns out that a brand new Underworld full movie is in the works, and lead character Selene and her catsuit might be slaying Lycans again. Director Len Wiseman has confirmed that more projects in the Underworld franchise have been greenlighted.

The news came out at this year's New York Comic-Con. The director revealed that not only is an Underworld full movie about to go into production, but that there will be a version of the movie that will be released as a TV show. "There's a few things being developed right now," Wiseman says. "There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin-off like we did with Rise Of The Lycans, then we have another film in the works with Kate as well... And then there's a television series."

Aside from Kate Beckinsale reprising her role, several other people who are going to be involved in the next couple of Underworld related projects have been named. They include Theo James (Divergent) who will be portraying a vampire named David, plus Cory Goodman (Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter ) who will be penning the screenplay for the next Underworld full movie, tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation.

It will be recalled that Underworld's story revolves around Selene (Kate Beckinsale) who is out for revenge against Lycans (werewolves), who have murdered her family. The movie spanned a franchise that includes three more movives that followed the first one -- Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of Lycans, and Underworld: Awakening. The films earned more than $ 400 million in the worldwide box office. The next Underworld full movie will be the fifth installment in the franchise.

There is no word yet on the upcoming TV series, but do stay tuned as we keep tabs on this developing story.
