Gwyneth Paltrow has had her share of the limelight for plenty of reasons. Recently, for more controversial ones as a wave of anti Gwyneth sentiment seems to have swept across audiences. And nothing is more divisive than the Gwyneth Paltrow blog, Goop, which plenty have seen as elitist and out of touch with reality. From the lifestyle website, Gwyneth has dished advise on what to eat, cook, wear, and where to dine, and travel, and even how to raise kids.
Recently, even original lifestyle guru has joined the fray and offered her own take on the anti Gwyneth Paltrow sentiment. It will be recalled that Martha made a statement in an interview with Porter magazine, expressing just how she really feels about the Gwyneth Paltrow blog. "She just needs to be quiet-she's a movie star," Stewart said. "If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."
In turn, Gwyneth took an interview during Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit to respond to Martha's diss. And she came out looking like a winner with her self-deprecating, gracious response. "No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated. I'll try to recover," Gwyneth said to laughter from the watching audience. "If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition. I really am." At the same time though, the Gwyneth Paltrow blog and company also announced that they have hired the former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.
And now in a not so subtle dig at Gwyneth, Martha Stewart seems to be firing back. The 73 year old has taken another aim at the actress, via a feature in her magazine, Martha Stewart Living. A spread in the magazine is entitled "Conscious Coupling," which is a jab at the term "conscious uncoupling" Gwyneth used in describing her separation from husband Chris Martin. The text on the article reads,
"Every Thanksgiving table should be blessed with the presence of a long-married pair who bring out the best in each other, are completely enamored despite their differences, and leave every other guest thinking, I'll have what they're having. Our holiday pies honor such partnerships, each spotlighting this perfect marriage of crust and filling so there's a pleasant mix of textures and flavors in every bite. No matter how you slice six irresistible desserts, there is a whole lot to love."
