It was confirmed last week that the upcoming Ghostbusters film finally had a director on board, and it is no less than Paul Feig who directed Kristen Wiig and Rose Byrne in the hit comedy Bridesmaids. Plus the screenwriter on board, Kate Dippold, who wrote The Heat has also generated much excitement. The new take on the class movie will be featuring an all female Ghostbusters 3 cast, and fans have been eagerly speculating as to who would be perfect for it.
Even original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray has given his two cents on who he thinks will be perfect for the roles of the female Ghostbusters. The comedian spoke with the Toronto Star, giving his dream list for the Ghostbusters 3 cast. ""Melissa [Mc Carthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny. God, she's funny," Murray said. "I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there."
Meanwhile, Emma Stone herself has responded to the endorsement by Bill Murray to be cast in Ghostbusters 3. She spoke to Vulture sharing that it was great that someone like the iconic actor would back her up. "That's very nice. I want to see Bill Murray in a female Ghostbusters," Emma responded.
Now news of another actress being interested to be part of the all female Ghostbusters 3 cast has surfaced. In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session that happened on October 12, Gillian Anderson (X-Files, The Fall) was informed about the Paul Feig directed sequel. The 46 year old actor replied: "OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I'm free!!!!! I'm free I'm free and I'm funny, goddamnit!"
It was Dan Aykroyd, the star and co-writer of the original Ghostbusters films that really pushed for this latest installment on the franchise to happen. And now, it looks like filming will begin soon once the casting choices are finalized. Stay tuned for more news on the Ghostbusters 3 cast.
