Did CSI's lastest episode shake you just like it scared Sara and Greg? Read 'CSI: Las Vegas' season 15 episode 3 recap here.
The Winthorp twins mystery took the backseat this week for a more urgent danger that befell DB Rusell's team.
Sarah and Greg start out their shift with a gunshot victim found in his own home but they get into danger after realizing the victim could be infected by a deadly virus. The case of the week cleverly reflects the current Ebola virus outbreak happening in Liberia right now.
The CSI writers even use a similar sounding name for the deadly sickness. Unlike the Ebola virus however, CSI's 'Ibare' acts faster and has a higher mortality rate (80%), causing internal hemorrhage within hours of infection.
The team works with the CDC to contain the virus and look for the infected killer.
It turns out the victim was a doctor obsessed with the same virus that he acquired. He had been one of two doctors who helped out in the Ibare virus outbreak that happened in Bolivia years ago.
The CSIs also find out that he was actually infected by one of the children whose whole family got wiped out by the Ibare virus in Bolivia. He planned the revenge after discovering that the doctors treating them lied about the gravity of the infection to prevent mass hysteria, resulting in more deaths.
Eventually, Sarah and Greg get the clear after finding out that the virus actually dies out after two hours of air exposure. The killer, who only entered the doctor's house to rob him, wasn't so lucky.
Finlay, on the other hand, is still stuck in Seattle, advised by Russell to extend her vacation. She continues to look for more details about the Gig Harbor twins.
