"Half Life 3" release date rumors remain just that- rumors.
Despite several interviews given by Valve Founder Gabe Newell about the new game's release, no solid and official confirmation has been made.
Because of the success of the first 2 "Half Life" games, fans are clamouring for a third instalment. "Half Life 3" release date rumors even surfaced before and during the E3 2014 that Valve will finally announce the official launch date of the latest instalment. But that didn't happen, leaving fans disheartened once again.
Rumored discovered artworks for the new game didn't help either. It has been previously reported that former Valve employee Minh Lee saw some studies for "Half Life 3." However, the rumor was quickly gunned down by the gaming community since Lee has left Valve several years ago and might have spotted an old and unused "Half Life" artwork.
It it's any consolation, another "Half Life 3" release date report claims that "Conuter Strike" co-creators have already confirmed that the third instalment is underway.
Newell has also reaffirmed fans of the video game, saying that Valve puts a premium on their expectations.
"We definitely in a sense have an army of customers who are always helping us stay honest..." Newell said. "We've essentially crowd-sourced supervision of a lot of these decisions to our customers and it works way better than almost any other system we could design. They're rabid, they're passionate, and there are a lot of them," he said.
But why exactly is "Half Life 3" taking so long? Newell offered an explanation, somehow citing "Steam" as a possible culprit.
"So, if somebody becomes the group manager of X, they're going to really resist it when X is not what you want to do in the next round of games. You don't want them to sort of burrow into that - you want them to recognize that being really good at Half-Life level design is not as nearly as valued as thinking of how to design social multi-player experiences."
