NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano was not aware of the ruckus that happened at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday.
He saw that his team mate Brad Keselowski and fellow driver Matt Kenseth were caught up in a physical altercation Saturday night.
According to Logano who drives the Team Penske No. 22 Ford "I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what it was about, I guess, at first. Not until later on when I got back to the hauler and watched it on TV and figured out what everyone was mad about."
He adds "You're focused on your own thing; you don't know what's going on. But I did stop and watch it (on the track's giant video screen) because I was interested in what the deal was."
Aside from Kenseth and Keselowski, Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart were also involved in the altercation which resulted with the both being fined by NASCAR.
NASCAR fined Brad Keselowski $50,000 and Tony Stewart $25,000 on Tuesday. Both of the drivers were placed under probation saying that the penalties "are about maintaining a safe environment following the race."
The penalties for Keselowski and Stewart are accordance with past punishments for drivers who had used their cars to retaliate to other races. While NASCAR did not find any evidence that Hamlin deserved to be punished for following Keselowski through the garage inside his car, but many onlookers deemed the act as dangerous in a crowded and dark work space.
Logano was asked what message did the NASCAR penalties impart to fellow drivers. He answered "You look at what happened and say, 'OK, I can't do that. Who got fined the most and who got fined a little bit? OK you can''t do that (either)."
He adds "I'm not here to (pass) judgment on what happened. But as a driver you kind of know where the lines are, but heat of the moment you kind of forget where those lines are. That's why a lot of time it's better to talk about stuff a couple of days later instead of in the heat of the moment like that."
"It makes it entertaining for everyone."
