Sony Xperia Z2 vs. LG G3 - Which smartphone has a better design and build?

Both devices' physical appearances are sure to catch the attention of consumers. But giving a closer look, one will know which one has a sturdy construction.

LG G3 was first thought to have a metal body but it was made using a solid polycarbonate material to come up with a metal finish. Sony Xperia Z2, on the other hand, has tempered glass on the front and back. This makes the handset chic and look sturdier but users may have to deal with fingerprints and dust every time.

The charging port of Z2 is covered that one has to open the flap to get access to it. Likewise, it is located at the side that makes it difficult to hold when plugged in. The G3 has this at the bottom, making its edges clean.

Sony Xperia Z2 vs. LG G3 - Which unit is easier to hold?

LG G3 is wider and thicker than Sony Xperia Z2 - 2.94" width vs. 2.89", and 0.35" thickness vs. 0.32". But then, the difference in size is not that significant that an ordinary buyer cannot easily tell. By just looking at them, you know that both will not easily fit into tight jeans or clothes with smaller pockets.

In terms of comfort when holding, the Sony smartphone is not easier to hold despite the fact that it's thinner. It's a rectangular phone with sharp edges; hence, it feels bigger in the hands and may be prone to falls. G3 may be as big as Z2 but it is made with curved edges that it better fits the hand of the user.

LG G3 may be larger but buyers will somehow be surprised to know that Sony Xperia Z2 is the heavier one as it weighs 163g as against G3's 149g. But the latter has an explanation to offer that benefits those who are prone to submerging their smartphones into the water: Xperia Z2 is water-resistant (with dual IP ratings of IP55 and IP58).

Sony Xperia Z2 vs. LG G3 - Which one is better for you? The answer will depend on your needs.
