Frank Mir's next fight has not been set in stone, but the former heavyweight champion is looking to face either one of his fellow former title-holders: Brock Lesnar or Antonio Rodriogo "Big Nog" Nogueira. The UFC veteran also admitted that he still uncomfortable about breaking "Big Nog's" arm when they fought in 2011.
While Frank Mir's next fight has not been set in stone yet, he had expressed that he wants a rubber match with former rival Brock Lesnar. In an interview with Brazilian news outfit Combate.com, Mir revealed his immediate future plans with regards to his fighting career.
"He's still popular, people know who he is and he brings attention," Mir said speaking about Lesnar. "We are tied with one win each. I would enjoy a rubber match. I would like to welcome him back to the UFC."
Mir and Lesnar last fought at the monumental UFC 100 in July 2009, wherein he lost by second round technical knockout. Prior to that second encounter, both men faced each other a year prior at UFC 81, where Mir won via first round submission.
While Brock Lesnar's return is still possible according to World Wrestling Entertainment legend and former commentator Jim Ross, Mir's desire to face the current WWE talent for the third time stems from dislike.
"People think that you always have to talk about your rival," Mir said. It's the case with Lesnar because I don't like him as a person."
Frank Mir's next fight may also be against another former rival, Antonio Rodrigo "Big Nog" Nogueira. Both men had also faced each other twice already, with Mir winning both fights.
In their most recent encounter at UFC 140 in 2011, Mir emerged victorious via first round submission, breaking Nogueira's arm in the process. To this day, the UFC veteran admits that the said incident still makes him uncomfortable.
"When I arrived at my home, my wife's friends had recorded the fight and we watched together," Mir said, explaining his feelings right after the fight. "I stopped when Nogueira's arm popped, I couldn't watch. They asked me why and I answered: 'I remember differently. He was punching my face at that time. Watching it from my couch isn't nice.'"
