"Point Break" remake has already started production and we even reported last time the superstar athletes that have filmed in Hawaii, including Laurie Towner who even had a freak accident because of a dangerous stunt. It seems that the producers are going all out to make this movie bigger than the first one.
There has been a lot of pressure in doing this film and getting new faces to star in the remake is a risk. Many fans still wanted to see Keanu Reeves reprise his role as Johnny Utah, but he showed disinterest in doing "Point Break" remake.
When BBC Live asked the actor last year if he would like to be involved in the reboot, he said: "Absolutely not. It's not my place." The "The Matrix" star explained, "If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them." He added, "A remake sounds very exciting - but is it a good thing? I don't know".
Keanu Reeves gained fame for his role in Kathryn Bigelow's cult classic surfing film so choosing another actor to take over his role may be difficult. There will always be comparison to Keanu's character in the 1991 "Point Break". The person who had the courage to take on the role is none other than Luke Bracey.
The Aussie actor recently starred in Nicholas Sparks' "The Best Of Me" and in the action flick "The November Man" alongside Pierce Brosnan. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Bracey revealed how much he wanted to play Johnny Utah.
The 25-year old actor said, "When I got the email saying they were looking at me and a couple of other guys for the role, my first instinct was that 'I have to get this. No one else can get this.' I know this guy so well and I love the original so much."
Luke Bracey revealed, "I've never worked so hard on anything in my life as for the preparation and filming of this movie. I am giving it everything I've got. It's a five-month shoot. I'm going to leave nothing on the path, and when I get to the end of it, I've got to be able to look myself in the mirror and know that I gave it everything I've got."
Now that "Point Break" remake is going full blast with its production, the original actor that plays Johnny Utah was asked again how he felt about the reboot. Keanu Reeves told Fusion Live, "I think it's great." He added, "It means that the first Point Break in a way is a kind of classic then, because if you are reinventing something you tend to pick classics and you want to update it and make it part of this time."
It's good to know that he finally showed some support for "Point Break" remake after letting the world know how negative he feels about doing a reboot.
