Hunter Biden leaves the navy after allegedly testing positive for cocaine, according to a report from People magazine.
Vice-President Joe Biden's son was reportedly taken off service at the U.S. navy on February, sources said.
As Hunter Biden leaves the navy, the vice presidential son issued a formal statement through his attorney, as reported in People, saying:
"It was the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy,"
"I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge."
Joe Biden's representatives refused to give comments pertaining to Hunter Biden leaving the navy.
Hunter's representatives had no comment with regards to their client's reason for discharge.
Military personnel who test positive for drugs don't get to receive honourable discharge.
Hunter went on a trip with his father to Asia in December last year. He commended his son for his position as chairman of World Food Program USA, according to People.
Hunter was questioned when he became a part of a gas company in Ukraine. This followed when the vice president and President Obama were in the process of separating Ukraine's deep involvement with the Russian energy affairs, according to People.
Hunter is part of the management partner team at an investment company called Rosemont Seneca Partners. He is also a father to three children. Brother Beau Biden works as a Delaware attorney general. Beau also used to work as an Army National Guard personnel.
