Android 4.4: HTC Nexus 9 Tab First Device To Launch Android 5.0 Lollipop Update November 3, HTC One M8, HTC One M7 Android L Updates To Follow. The latest reports about Android 4.4 KitKat updates cite that the Android 5 Lollipop update is on it's way for the HTC One, which has yet to receive the Android 4.4. The new Android 5.0 OS will be available for a number of Android devices.
Google announced the Android 5.0 update for three products so far. The first update will begin on the new HTC Nexus 9 tab on November 3, along with ensuing Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the HTC One or One M8.
Most likely, HTC One users might be awaiting the latest updates for their phones.
In June, Google announce Android L or 5.0 as an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Though Android has not been updated on the HTC for release on its smartphones, now the phone maker is ready to offer fast updates in 90 days of Android L's release date.
Tracing back to the Android 4.4.4 initial launch, the update had a number of problems. In order to release security patches for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Google unveiled the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update and then installed the Android 4.4.4 for devices requiring security patches. At the time HTC was on Android 4.4.3 and maintained the latest changes in the Android 4.4.3.
A week before the announcement of the Android L, HTC One M8, and the HTC One M7 were on a update for the most recent Android 4.4.4 KitKat in order to prepare for the go ahead on Android 5.0.
Jeff Gordon, Senior Manager at HTC, tweeted:
Jeff Gordon @urbanstrataFollowReminder: HTC One (M8) and One (M7) will begin updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days of final software. (Software isn't final yet.)
Gordon also owns a shiny new HTC Nexus 9 tablet and he was also the first to confirm the HTC One M8 along with last year's HTC One M7. Both the smartphones are likely to be updated to Android 5 within 3 months. The Nexus 9 will be the first device to officially update with Android's 5.0 Lollipop on November 3.
