Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors reveal that Rajon Rondo and Marc Gasol are on the radar for the purple and gold, as well as rookie of the year Michael Carter-Williams in order to give Kobe Bryant a shot at his sixth championship.

According to Sports World Report, which dished out the latest Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors, there's a good possibility that Steve Nash or Jeremy Lin could be traded this year.

While the trainers and Steve Nash himself were optimistic about his condition during the preseason, the two-time MVP suffered a setback when he hurt his back carrying his luggage last week.

"The LA Lakers are coming into the 2014-15 season with some major questions with Kobe Bryant coming back after a serious injury," it said. "It's a near certainty that the Lakers will go after players like Rajon Rondo, Marc Gasol, Greg Monroe and Ricky Rubio in free agency next summer."

This year would be brutal for the squad as its season will hinge upon the creaky knees of a 35-year-old superstar, coming off two major surgeries, an aging point guard pushing 40, a Harvard graduate from the Houston Rockets and a seventh pick who has yet to prove himself.

But there's hope in the horizon as "the Lakers are looking towards next summer as the chance to fully rebound from last season's terrible performance, as there will be a number of free agents on the market," said Sports World Report.

In other Los Angeles Lakers news and rumors, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report wrote that team management should inquire from the Philadelphia 76ers on the availability of Michael Carter-Williams.

The rookie of the year had a stellar season when he averaged 16 points, six rebounds and six assists, joining LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson as the only players to do so in the NBA annals.

According to Grantland, the 76ers are willing to trade Michael Carter-Williams even with those stellar numbers. "The team knows point guard is the most replaceable position in the league today, and it will seek out any deal that adds to its stockpile of high-value draft picks," it said.
