"Salt" actress epic drama film is set during World War 2. Indie Wire reported that Jolie's movie is adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's book of the same title, "Unbroken" and it is based on a true story. The film story revolves around WWII soldier, Louis "Louie" Zamperini. He is a former Olympic athlete, who survived a plane crash and a subsequent 47 days in a life raft along with several other crew members. After surviving the plane crash, he was captured by the Japanese Navy and imprisoned him in a war camp for over two years. Jack O'Connell played the role of Louie.
Meanwhile, from the same source, the real Louis "Louie" Zamperini, the main inspiration of the book and film, died last July at the age of 97. Before he died, he gave an approval for the film adaptation. Jack O'Connell said:
"Angie (Angelina Jolie) showed him some footage, of which he approved of, which means the world to me and to us all. He always wanted to cross the finish line in whatever he was doing. Whether it was on the raft or in Japan as a prisoner of war. He was always trying to get to the end of something."
