The cult horror "Phantasm: Ravager" (Phantasm 5) movie has come a long way since it was first created by then 23-year-old director Don Coscarelli in 1979.
After 16 years, the fifth and last sequel (The 4th sequel came out in 1998 according to IMDB.) has arrived to bring closure to the eerie mystery surrounding the tall man, his deadly flying spheres, army of hooded dwarves and the cryptic marble mausoleum that served as their home-cum-headquarters on Earth.
The "Phantasm: Ravager" (Phantasm 5) movie has already wrapped up filming by the time Entertainment Weekly reported it last March 2014. However, it would not be until 2015 before the Tall Man, along with his fearsome, flesh/brain extracting homing spheres and horde of undead slaves, make their long- awaited return to the big screen.
And this time, IMDB reported that Reggie (Reggie Bannister), the ice cream man who had long pursued the mystery behind the creepy mortician Angus Rimm, a.k.a the Tall Man, first with brothers Jody and Mike (Phantasm 1, 1979), would finally uncover his secret.
Would Reggie finally see the real world the Tall Man inhabits?
Would the Tall Man finally reveal his true appearance?
Upcoming Horror Movies shared that Don Coscarelli, director of the previous sequels, has co-written the script with "Phantasm: Ravager" (Phantasm 5) movie director David Hartman.
The site confirmed this further when they shared Coscarelli's thoughts and elaboration on the final installment. He said:
"The Phantasm films have been a guerrilla operation for decades now, totally outside of the studio system. We do them for the fans, and I think Ravager will definitely please them. In the past few years several studios have made offers to remake Phantasm with large budgets, but the fans were very vocal that they wanted the original cast to return and finish this iteration of the story with class. And for the first time there's an extended sequence on the Tall Man's home world. I know Phantasm fans will be as excited as I am to see. Adding..."There are also some surprises thrown in that I promise will astonish long-time fans."
And with that, fans need only wait until next year to learn the Tall Man's secrets after more than a decade of waiting.
