Which Apple device is the better choice for consumers? We compare the iPhone 5S and the iPad Mini 2 to see which is worth the purchase.

In terms of design and display, the iPhone 5S has a IPS LCD LED-backlit touch screen that measures 4 inches. Its resolution is at 640 x 1136 pixels and the following dimensions are 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm, weighs 112 grams.

The iPad Mini 2 on the other hand has an IPS LCD LED-backlit touch screen that measures 7.9 inches. Its resolution is rendered at 1536 x 2048 pixels and its are dimensions are 200 x 134.7 x 7.5 mm, weighs 331 grams. It is bigger and much heavier than its competitor.

For the hardware and OS, the iPhone 5S has a Cyclone: dual core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and it is paired up with the Apple A7 chipset. It has a 1GB of RAM and multiple options of internal memory: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB (the device does not have a microSD slot, which means that the memory is not expandable) and it runs on the iOS 7.

Meanwhile, the iPad Mini 2 has the same Cyclone processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, and it's also paired up with Apple A7 chipset. The tablet has 1GB of RAM with multiple options of internal storage: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB (there is no microSD slot, so the memory is not expandable). It also operates in the iOS 7 software.

For the battery usage and camera specs, the iPad Mini 2 comes with a Li-Po 23.8 Wh battery unit, while the iPhone 5S has a Li-Po 1560 mAh battery. The iPhone 5S has an 8MP rear-facing camera that features dual LED flash and autofocus, while the iPad Mini 2 has a 5MP camera that features autofocus. Both Apple devices show off a 1.2MP front-facing camera.

The iPhone 5S (16 GB) cost $449.00 while the 64 GB variant is at $740.00. Meanwhile, the iPad Mini 2 (16 GB) is at $297.25, as the 128 GB variant costs around $345.99.
