LeBron James sets leadership tone for Cavaliers

Before the Cleveland Cavaliers was able to start their very first practice for this season, LeBron James asked his team mate to join him in a meeting room.

New coach David Blatt was excited to start the practice but still gave James his blessing to conduct an all player's meeting. The meeting lasted for 30 minutes where in James told fellow All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love as well as all the other member of the team of the expectations this coming season.

Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters told Yahoo Sports "I was looking like, 'Wow.' That's crazy that he broke down every individual thing he wants guys to do. He wrote down every player from the guy in training camp who may be here or may not be here. ...It was unbelievable. It was great."

While Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao added "He used to talk individually to the players before, but not like that."

It was not long ago when James flew away from the Cleveland's nest and move in with the Heats. Many despised him. Even Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert publicly vented his hate with the player.

Long-time Akron mayor Donald L. Plusquellic told Yahoo Sports "No one breaks up with their girlfriend by telling the kids at the high school over the loudspeaker. Sports fans are in love with their favorite players like they are in love with their high school girlfriend. You don't do it over the loud speaker."

Adding "I've been in sports bars and got in arguments with people. I got a lot of [expletive] over LeBron."

Former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown believes that the team lacked true co-stars which evently led James to move away.

He said "LeBron had never been in a team situation with that many [talented] guys [in Cleveland]. For the most part, his second-best player was Mo Williams who was an All-Star one year and he was an alternate selection that year. To be around guys who have won championships and won on an international level would have helped accelerate the process."

But now, James is back and has earned the respect of not only the fans but also the team.

He said "Hopefully, the pitfalls are less to the ultimate goal. But it has to happen. You have to go through tough times in order to know how to approach it the next time."
