Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's reality show "True Tori" reportedly took a huge pay cut from Lifetime Channel to stay on air. According to a report from Radar Online, the controversial couple is allegedly "desperate" and "cash-strapped" following their recent marital troubles.
Although gathering only mediocre ratings, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's reality show will still continue after the former "Beverly Hills 90210" star reportedly accepted the network's "discounted" fee.
In spite of being parents to four children, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott agreed to their reality show's paycut to keep the series on air. According to Radar Online, the show's second season was confirmed after the former teen actress admitted she was "broke".
An insider told Radar Online: "Lifetime was interested in doing another season of the show. However, Tori had to be willing to take a pay cut, a big one, and she did."
In addition to slashing the talent fees for Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's reality show, the latter is reportedly "not even getting a penny".
A source revealed that "Tori is making only $50,000 to do Season Two, (and) Dean isn't making a dime. Tori made sure his contract specified that."
The insider explained to Radar Online Tori Spelling's alleged intentions: "Her friends think she would have done the reality show for free, she is that obsessed with having her personal life played out on camera!"
The source added: "She needs constant validation from Dean and everyone around her."
"True Tori" reportedly already began filming, and Daily Mail reported that the actress recently met with her husband's ex-wife, actress and TV personality Mary Jo Eustace.
The former and present wife of Dean McDermott reportedly had a heart-to-heart talk over lunch and wine, which was filmed for "True Tori".
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's marriage somewhat started off on the wrong foot, as the actor left his then wife Mary Jo Eustace for the former teen actress.
Mary Jo Eustace admitted that some people assume she "must feel so great" now that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's marriage seem to be filled with problems.
The actor's first wife clarified, reported by Daily Mail: "'I was like, no, it's actually horrible."
Mary Jo Eustace said: "It's not a great feeling... They have four children."
