This might top of the list of online dating horror stories.
30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was arrested after reportedly illegally entering the home of a man she went on multiple dates with after meeting him online, according to KTLA 5 News.
Deputies reportedly responded to a home in Thousand Oaks at 5:45am after a caller reported that a woman had been stuck in the chimney for two hours, stated Capt. Renee Ferguson of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
The woman was reportedly trying to break into the house and had gotten stuck, according to police. The homeowner told Los Angeles station KABC that the two recently ended their relationship, according to ABC News.
To add to this online horror story, it reportedly wasn't the first time the woman was found on his roof.
"Before you have somebody come in your house really check them out. . . really give it some time before you let somebody in, because they might want to stay," the homeowner, who did not wish to be identified, stated.
The woman was reportedly conscious during the rescue as the county Fire Department's urban search and rescue team worked to take her out of the roof.
Online dating horror stories can happen to anyone, and although they can't be prevented completely, there are precautions to be made.
"You need to protect yourself and you don't know who's on the other side of the computer until you meet them in person. Have a couple of dates with them before you bring them into your bubble. Be very protective of where you live," stated relationship expert Rachel DeAlto.
She added that using a different email address might help in preventing one of the ugly online dating horror stories from happening to you.
"Most of our emails have our full names attached to them and there is a lot of information people can get from that. Unfortunately in this day and age, it is very easy to find people," stated DeAlto.
The cautions go for women as well as men.
"Guys think they're so much safer and that they don't have to worry about security issues. But obviously, a woman in a chimney proves that wrong," stated DeAlto.
