Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has dared Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to fight on the exact same date of his fight on May and September of 2015. The 37-year-old undefeated boxer from America strongly believes that his pay-per-view fights will be way better and even more lucrative than theirs.

He believes that, between himself and those two aforementioned fighters, boxing fans will prefer to watch him.

Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya said during an interview with Boxing Scene that Cotto needs to fight Canelo if he wants to have a big-money fight next year. De La Hoya also highlighted that, contrary to what Mayweather, Jr. strongly believes, the Canelo vs. Cotto match will be far more interesting to boxing fans than a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, simply because the latter one is not even close to actually happening.

Canelo also has reportedly given Golden Boy Promotions his requests for a fight on Cinco de Mayo on May 2nd of next year. He was pretty specific to have a fight scheduled on the Mexican date, not caring at all if Mayweather would fight on the exact same day on Showtime pay-per-view.

The Canelo vs. Cotto match, if the negotiations turn out in favor of it, will be on HBO pay-per-view, according to Boxing 247.

Mayweather, Jr., on the other hand, is not backing down from Canelo's challenge. He told Fighthype.com, "If they feel like they can compete, well then, let's see."

He then continued, "When you're talking 'boxing', you're talking 'Mayweather', man. We need to take Canelo's last fight and look at his pay-per-view numbers and take Cotto's last fight and look at his pay-per-view numbers. Put 'em together and see who has done better numbers. And see what they charge for the fight also."

Canelo's and Cotto's PPV fights were not so good back then. In fact, just last June, the Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight only raked in around 300,000 PPV buys, according to Boxing News 24. Canelo's last two matches were only able bring in 300,000 PPV buys each as well.
