Parents aren't too happy about the "Breaking Bad" action figures, which come with "a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth," that are being sold at Toys R Us.
Unhappy parents have reportedly started a petition asking Toys R Us to stop selling the "Breaking Bad" action figures, stating that "anything to do with drugs" should not be sold in a toy store, according to TIME.
The petition has reportedly attracted signatures from more than 2,200 supporters as of Monday morning. The "Breaking Bad" Toys R Us protest reportedly got quite a bit of signatures after Susan Schrivjer, who launched the petition to stop the selling of the "Breaking Bad" action figures, made an appearance on The Today Show this weekend.
Despite the increasing number of unhappy parents, Toys R Us has yet to back down regarding its sale of the Walter White and Jesse Pinkman action figures.
The toy store reportedly released a statement clarifying that the "Breaking Bad" packaging "clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up" and they're only sold "in the adult action figure acres of our stores."
However, Schrivjer and her supporters aren't comforted by the location of the toys, stating that, "Its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters."
Although Schrivjer stated that she thought that the award-winning AMC show was "great" and "riveting," she stands behind her belief that the content is not suitable for children.
"The show centers on the story of a high school chemistry teacher who becomes a drug kingpin in order to make ends meet," she stated on the petition, according to the NY Daily News.
She added, "While the show may be compelling viewing for adults, its violent content and celebration of the drug trade made this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters."
