The Royce Gracie-Eddie Bravo feud has been reignited, as the UFC Hall-of-Famer has now revealed his intention to impose physical hurt on the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu founder.
The Royce Gracie-Eddie Bravo friction began in March, after Bravo faced the elder Royler Gracie in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu rematch at Metamoris 3's main event. It was the second installment of their first encounter in 2003 at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) tournament, wherein Eddie Bravo prevailed via triangle choke.
During the said Metamoris event, Royce Gracie and Eddie Bravo got into a heated feud backstage, after Gracie himself admitted of confronting the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu founder right after the match.
"I wanted to talk to him for years, but never had the chance to meet him," Gracie said during a March interview with MMA Fighting. "I met him after the fight and he was there, throwing up. Royler dominated him so much, he did so much strength, that he threw up after the fight."
Royce Gracie and Eddie Bravo have not been in good terms ever since, with Royce noting that he never liked the younger BJJ practitioner, mainly for his advocacy for marijuana use. In his most recent interview, the 47-year old former fighter reveals that he still holds the same belief.
"You're gonna send your kids to learn from a guy that tells everybody that it's okay to do drugs? It's ok to drink alcohol? Sorry, man," Gracie said. "If you wanna do it in private, do it in private. I have no problem with that. But I can never send my kid to someone that praises alcohol and drugs. Is that what you want your kids to learn? It's okay to smoke pot? 'Oh, pot is not a drug.' So walk into a police station with a pound of pot and tell the cops it's not a drug. Come on."
Moreover, the UFC 1 legend even threatened physical harm upon Bravo if they do meet in competition.
"I'm pretty much done fighting," Gracie continued. "With Eddie Bravo, it's personal. ... (Does Metamoris) allow punches to the face? Do this rubber guard stuff and I'll punch you in the nose."
