Apple's new iOS 8.1 build comes with direct interface to Mac OS X Yosemite.
Apple launched the latest build to its iOS 8, more than a month after it unveiled with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. The update offers tweaks and debugs, also new features that push for efficient integration between the range of Apple devices.
The iOS 8.1 release comes with upgrade to Apple's push for inoperability between devices, enabling users to continue calls on Mac computers, also continue tasks started on the iPhone or iPad.
Enhanced convergence with Mac OS X Yosemite is the most notable addition to the build iOS 8.1 release, allowing for text messaging and phone calls over iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices which are part of the same WiFi network.
In addition, ongoing tasks in any of these devices, especially the ones saved to iCloud, may be accessed and resumed in other Apple devices.
Photo management via the iCloud sees the return of a familiar feature as well. The "Recently Added" folder has been replaced by the return of Camera Roll.
A beta version of iCloud Photo Library, which automatically backs up copies of photos to iCloud, is also introduced in the new iOS build. iCloud services come with a fee after the 5GB free, complimentary storage.
Apple Pay is currently an exclusive feature for the US market, a mobile payment solution for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus which makes use of the devices' NFC connection and fingerprint reader.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are doing good in sales ever since the September 17 release date, selling an estimated ten million units within the first three days of launch. iPhone sales worldwide have peaked at 39.2 million for the third quarter of 2014, a significant increase in comparison to the same period in 2013 (source: yahoo.com).
