The latest Los Angeles news and rumors point to Jeremy Lin appearing ready to take the next step under the intense Hollywood limelight. Meanwhile, the team dropped from the roster guard Keith Appling and center Jeremy Tyler.

Mike Bresnahan dished Los Angeles news and rumors in a piece for Sydney Morning Herald as he wrote that Jeremy Lin has stayed humble even as he is ready to take on the point guard spot for the squad.

"Pretty much everything I expected or anticipated or hoped for didn't happen," Lin told Bresnahan.

The article noted that the Los Angeles Lakers have never had a "game-changing" point guard since Derek Fisher, noted for his clutch plays and smarts. Since his departure, the squad had Ramon Sessions, Steve Blake and Steve Nash.

While Jeremy Lin claimed that his favorite game in his career was when he dropped 38 points and dished 7 assists against the Lakers during the "Linsanity" era in New York, he's hoping he can bring the same results to the purple and gold.

He also noted that fans in Los Angeles are very knowledgeable about the sport and appreciate his addition to the team.

"They're very thankful. I can't tell you how many people have told me they'll be there on OPENING night. They all talk about that game when I was in New York playing against L.A. That gets brought up a bunch," he said.

In other Los Angeles news and rumors from NBA.com, the team dropped Keith Appling and Jeremy Tyler which brought down the number of players to 17. The team is expected to cut down further to 13 or 14.

"Appling, a rookie from Michigan State, saw action in two games this preseason, scoring two points with three rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes," it said. "Tyler, a three-year NBA veteran with Golden State, Atlanta, and New York, appeared in three preseason games for the Lakers, averaging 2.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game."
