Which smartphone is the ideal purchase for consumers? We compare the Sony Xperia C and the Motorola Moto G to see which device is better.

For the design and display, the Sony Xperia C has a 5inches screen equipped with a TFT display that supports a resolution of 540x960pixels and 220ppi. It is taller than its competitor, measuring 141.5×74.2×8.9 mm and it weighs 153 grams.

The Motorola Moto G offers a more generous screen resolution of 1280x720pixels and 329ppi on has a 4.5 inches IPS LCD display. The smartphone is 10 grams lighter and its dimensions are 129.9×65.9×11.6 mm.

In terms of hardware and design, both smartphones have 1GB of RAM and 1.2GHz quad core processors, but the Motorola Moto G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, whereas the Sony Xperia C has the Mediatek MT6589 chipset.

The Sony Xperia C supports an internal memory of 4GB which is expandable up to 32GB., while the Motorola Moto G is available in two variants of internal storage, but its not expandable.

The Motorola unit runs on the Android platform, the 4.3(Jelly Bean) version, which is upgradable to the 4.4.4(KitKat) version. The Sony unit also has an Android, but it runs on an older version 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean).

For battery usage and camera specs, the Motorola Moto G is equipped with a non-removable Li-Ion 2070mAh battery which supports up to 24 hours of talk time. The Sony Xperia C’s battery is also non-removable, but it has a higher capacity of 2390mAh and only allows 12 hours of talk time.

The Sony Xperia C takes more accurate pictures with its 8MP rear camera with HDR, autofocus and LED flash. The secondary camera on this device is VGA, while the Motorola Moto G has a 1.3MP front camera and a 5MP primary shooter, which records videos 720p@30fps.

In addition, both smartphones have WiFi but they lack LTE support. Though, the Sony unit offers a speed of up to 42.2Mbps, which is double than the speed offered by the Motorola unit.

The Sony Xperia C costs around $260, while the Motorola Moto G 16GB variant cost $197 on amazon.com.
