It's official, and it is the actor who confirmed it himself. Taylor Kitsch is officially joining the True Detective season 2 cast. The Friday Night Lights actor revealed that he will indeed be joining the hit HBO drama after months and months of speculation as to who will be replacing the already iconic roles played by Hollywood A-listers Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.

In an interview with AdWeek magazine for their latest issue, the actor talked about being thrilled in joining the True Detective season 2 cast. "Yeah, I'm really excited. I've just been prepping," Taylor shared. "It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue. You've just got to grind it out. ..."

The actor had taken a year off from doing any screen work, whether in movies and TV and now he is ready to hit the ground running. He reflects on his self-imposed hiatus saying, "Yeah, I mean it was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be a part of it. And having this meeting with [True Detective showrunner] Nic Pizzolatto, it kind of brought me back to when I was here in New York and why I wanted to be a actor, why you struggle and why you don't quit," the Friday Night Lights star shared. "I loved that first season of it so much. It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real. Nowadays, it takes fucking balls to stand by that and do it that way."

Taylor Kitsch will be joining Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell in the True Detective season 2 cast. Fast and The Furious director Justin Lin is set to direct, while show creator Nic Pizzolatto will be writing the eight episodes of the upcoming season.
