It was one of the most controversial and provocative films that came out during its time. Danny Boyle's drug movie Trainspotting came out in 1996 and took the movie industry by storm. It also put then unknown actor Ewan McGregor in the list of upcoming actors in Hollywood.

Now, 20 years later, will be seeing Trainspotting 2? Well this report is confirmed, according to the movie's star himself, Ewan McGregor. In an interview with men's magazine Details, he gave a solid hint that the movie will be happening real soon. "It looks like it might happen," the Star Wars actor said. "The idea is that we shoot in 2016 which would be 20 years after the original came out."

Not only is Trainspotting 2 possibly starting production next year, but Ewan McGregor would be game to be on the sequel too, unlike many other actors who opt out of movies they have made years ago. "I'd be up for it," Ewan confirmed. "I wouldn't have been 10 years ago, but I am now."

It will be recalled that Ewan McGregor had a public rift with his Trainspotting director Danny Boyle years ago, which would explain why the actor says he wouldn't have done Transpotting 2 had it been made 10 years earlier. This was all thought to have stemmed from the actor being replaced by Leonardo DiCaprio in Danny's movie The Beach. "It was an unfortunate situation, and it wasn't handled well. I was very upset," Ewan explained. "But time has gone by, and we put to bed the bad feelings and all of that s***."

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle helmed the original Trainspotting movie based on a novel by Irvine Welsh. The movie revolved around the drug scene in Edinburgh, with the focus on Ewan McGregor as an addict who is desperately trying to get free of his drug ways. The movie became popular for its unique, frenetic storytelling, strange hallucinatory sequences, and its very hip soundtrack.
