Which device is worth the purchase? We compare the iPhone 6 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to see which is better.

In terms of design and display, the iPhone 6 Plus dimensions are 158.1×77.8×7.1 mm, weighs 172 grams and has an aluminum body, with a premium look. On the front panel users will see the round home button which hides the Touch ID sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a plastic faux leather removable rear panel with fake stitches on the edges, and it’s inseparable from the S Pen Stylus. It measures 151.2×79.2×8.3 mm and weighs 168 grams.

The Apple device has a display of 5.5 inches (LED-backlit IPS LCD), which flaunts a pixel density of 401ppi. The Samsung Note 3 has a Super AMOLED screen of 5.7 inches, which supports the same resolution, but has a lower pixel density of 386ppi.

For hardware, the iPhone 6 Plus features a 64-bit 1.4 GHz dual core A8 CPU coupled with hexa core PowerVR GX6650 graphics, being a lot faster than the iPhone 5S and iPad Air, which had an A7 chipset. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is powered by an Exynos 5 Octa core CPU with quad core 1.9GHz ARM Cortex-A15 and quad core 1.3GHz ARM Cortex-A7. The other variant is using a 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The Note 3 supports split-screen multitasking actions without any problems because it takes advantage of the 3GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 Plus still has 1GB of RAM. As for the internal memories, each device has three variants, but only the Note 3 supports a micro SD card slot for expansion. Users will get a 16, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage on the Apple smartphone and the Samsung device offers 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage, expandable up to 128 GB.

For battery and camera specs, the iPhone 6 Plus has a non-removable battery of 2915 mAh which supports 12 hours of browsing on wireless, 14 hours of watching videos and 24 hours of talking on 3G. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports a user replaceable 3200 mAh battery with 21 hours of talking time on 3G, on a charge.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is equipped with a 13Mp back camera, while the iPhone 6 Plus has an 8MP primary shooter with larger 1.5micron pixels, while the Note 3 has 1.1 micron size. The iPhone 6 Plus comes with optical image stabilization and a phase detection autofocus which allows the camera to focus faster on a subject. To balance out colors, Apple used the TrueTone LED flash, while the Note 3 has a simple LED flash. As for the secondary cameras, the one on the iPhone 6 Plus is 1.2MP, whereas the Note 3 has a 2MP one. The Note 3 takes colder photos, but the camera is better at offering more detailed information. The iPhone 6 Plus works better in low-light conditions. Regarding the video capabilities, both phablets support 1080p and have the slo-mo mode at 240fps (iPhone 6 Plus) and 120fps (Note 3).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 32GB costs $495 on amazon.com, while the iPhone 6 Plus can be purchased from the Apple Store with a two year contract, starting from $299. Without a contract costs $749.
