Jeremy Lin news updates hint that the hype surrounding "Linsanity" could reignite in the LA Lakers as the former Harvard student faces his former team, the Houston Rockets, on opening night.
The Bleacher Report dished some Jeremy Lin news in an article replete with caveats.
"With playing time and production both available in abundance, the table is set for the former phenom to feast during his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers," it said.
The piece by Zach Buckley noted that Jeremy Lin has a shot at a breakout campaign, "or a bounce-back one" because of the thin roster of the LA Lakers at the point guard position, especially with the squad shutting down Steve Nash for the rest of the season.
Aside from Jeremy Lin-whose exploits in New York Knicks earned for him the nickname "Linsanity"--the other point guards for the LA Lakers are rookie Jordan Clarkson and nine-year journeyman Ronnie Price.
He signed with the Houston Rockets with the promise of being the long-term point guard but that promise never materialized as the Harvard student was relegated to being a backup to ball-dominant James Harden. He eventually lost his starting position to Patrick Beverly because of his defense.
"In the NBA, you have to be great at something," Lin had told LA Times. "For me it's attacking the basket."
Meanwhile, in other Jeremy Lin news from LA Times, the 6-3 point guard managed to get the starting nod against his former team due to the Steve Nash injury.
But it's not clear, however, if he's a lock for the starting position as coach Byron Scott had said that he's more suited to the second unit.
"Well, really, I'm just the starter, I feel like, because I'm healthy," Lin told the publication.
As for the game against his former team, he downplayed it as just any other match, and the headline should be Kobe Bryant vs. Dwight Howard, and not him.
