Several covers of Taylor Swift's new pop single has been released online but one version caught the Grammy Award winner's attention. Fellow Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson's 'Shake It Off' cover not only impressed fans, it got Swift excited as well.
In the fan-taken video, the 'American Idol' champ announced that the preppy song was "one of [her] favorite songs out right now" during a performance in Buffalo, New York last weekend.
She then proceeds to sing her own version of the pop single, adding "a little Jesus" along the way, teasing fans by saying that it was a "church" and "soulful song."
She even defended the 24-year-old from haters, keeping in the theme of the song.
"Seriously, everybody gives Taylor Swift a hard time, but she can write a hook," the 'Already Gone' singer told the audience. "I'm just sayin'."
A video of Kelly Clarkson's 'Shake It Off' cover made its way to the original singer and to say that Swift loved it is an understatement.
"Watching Kelly Clarkson SLAY 'Shake It Off' is an excellent way to celebrate 26 HOURS TIL 1989!!!!!!" The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer posted on Twitter.
Clarkson didn't waste time to respond.
"Love this song!" She replied. "Hope you like our gospel beginning ha! We had fun with it! Congrats on the new album coming out girl!"
Taylor Swift's new album, '1989,' has been out since Monday following some leaking issues. All 13 tracks, as well as the six songs especially made for Target, were leaked last Friday. Swift's record company quickly remedied the situation, taking down the first song to leak a few hours after it was illegally released on Youtube.
She also appeared as a guest mentor on the NBC survival show 'The Voice' on Monday and Tuesday.
