Many fans are excited to see what "The Goonies 2" will be like, but the question is if it will really push through. Director Richard Donner finally spilled out some details during an interview with TMZ and he even revealed a big name that is involved in the movie.
The 1985 film was produced by Steven Spielberg so the website asked Donner if the executive producer will also be working on the second installment. The 84-year old filmmaker said, "Steven came up with the idea of doing a sequel after thirty years."
He revealed, "We've been trying for a while, and then he came up with another story line. He's right on." Now that Donner has confirmed that "The Goonies 2" is already on the works, would we be seeing the original cast in the sequel?
The director replied, "God knows, it's up to them. If they have any sense they will, if they don't they won't." I'm pretty sure you would like to see Mike (Sean Astin), Mouth (Corey Feldman), Brand (Josh Brolin), and Chunk (Jeff Cohen) again, right?
Well it seems that Sean Astin and Corey Feldman have shown some interest in reprising their roles. During an interview with E!, "The Lord of The Ring" star expressed how much he wanted to be part of "The Goonies 2"
The 43-year old actor said, "My first thought when Dick said he was doing that was like, 'Alright, maybe this time it's true!' I hope it's true." Astin also said, "I certainly like the idea of doing it. I don't know if I'd be in it or not. If they really wanted us to be in it, I'm sure there would be some way to work it out."
When asked if his co-star Corey Feldman would also be interested in doing a sequel, Sean Astin was very positive about it. He said, "We talk a lot. Corey and I are buddies." The actor added, "Oh, he's fired up. He's ready to go."
However, Corey Feldman bashed the idea of doing a second installment during an interview with TMZ. He said, "It can't be done without a perfect script! We all must be certain that it doesn't miss the magic of the original."
