The literary and small screen world collides once more with this piece of news. Acclaimed author Neil Gaiman has expressed interest in writing yet another episode of the long running, hit BBC series, Doctor Who. The author of the popular "Sandman" series has in fact already penned two episodes of Doctor Who Season 8 and is apparently game to write several more.
Only if he didn't have too much on his hands right now. Neil Gaiman was interviewed by Radio Times where he expressed his interest in writing another Doctor Who episode. Explains the writer of Coraline, : "Whenever I'm in the U.K....I sneak into meetings with [the production team]. They say, 'Can you do another one?!' and I say, 'Yes! But not yet'!" It seems unlikely that the writer will have time enough to pen another story for Doctor Who season 8, which stars Peter Capaldi as the newest actor to essay the role of the time traveling doctor. "Now I'm just sort of hoping that I can get one done while Peter Capaldi is still the Doctor, because it would be a very sad thing if I lost my chance to write for a grumpy, Scottish Doctor," Gaiman explains.
Previously, Neil Gaiman was able to finish two stories for the hit BBC series. There was the "The Doctor's Wife" back in 2011, and just last year, he wrote another episode called "Nightmare In Silver."
As for the topic of the story that he would write about for Doctor Who season 8 -- if he is able to, he says he is toying with the idea of a plot that is actually set in our home planet of earth. "I haven't done an episode set on Earth yet," he shared, "and I haven't created a new monster. So there are boxes left to tick. And there's part of me that feels... I haven't scared anybody yet. I'd love to do something that sends adults behind the sofa too and makes them wee."
