The Travel and Lifestyle network recently had to make a stand and cancel one of its shows -- Here Comes Honey Boo Boo because Mama June was reportedly dating a convicted child molester. But the channel also has some recent reasons to celebrate. One of them is the fact that their show 19 Kids And Counting has racked up one of its highest viewership in recent years. The Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar wedding was watched by around 4.4 million people when it aired last October 29 on TLC.
Reportedly, this was the highest rating that the channel has had in four years, with the key women demographics of 25-54 years old and 18-49 year olds tuning in making the show the top rank cable network for that evening. Clearly women were fascinated with the special love story that culminated in the Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar wedding.
The couple not only remained virgins throughout their relationship, they also did not even kiss until the big day. Aside from this, Derick and Jill never had an unchaperoned date and had not spent any time alone with each other. Viewers tuned in to some very special firsts in the Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar wedding -- their first kiss, first frontal hug, and first time spent alone with each other. The first kiss was a particularly precious moment, as Jill practically lunged at the face of Derick, which prompted her mother Michelle to comment that Jill was quite "excited" for that moment.
Aside from this, the couple were shown excitedly running down the aisle to get to spend their first alone time together. The newlyweds were clearly looking forward to spend some moments alone, and they did so right after the simple Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar wedding ceremony.
Another highlight from the show, was when the couple -- who were thought to be quite conservative and traditional, trumped the time-honored tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other until that special walk down the aisle. Not only did they arrive at the venue together, they even prepared for the wedding together!
