Word has been going around on the Internet that Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead" adamantly refuses to have his Daryl Dixon character become gay. Recently, however, the ruggedly handsome zombie killer has quelled such hearsays, taking to Twitter to finally air his real views on the issue.
Huffington Post shared that ever since people and the media have made several speculations about Dixon's true sexuality. The hit TV series' creator even hinted that the famous character of Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead" could be a homosexual.
As reported by Inquisitr, per The Globe, per Celebrity Dirty Laundry, which is then quoted by Huffington Post, Reedus had allegedly pleaded the show's producers not to make Dixon gay. His supposed reason? He was afraid that he would lose his appeal to his huge throng of female fans.
But the actor has slammed this allegation, which was reported to have been disclosed by an anonymous insider, reported Gay Star News. The informer added that although Reedus is not against gays in real life, he is currently one of the most prominent male sex symbols on the little screen. As proof, he receives thousands of fan mail from female admirers weekly, some of them even proposing marriages.
For this accolade, observers might surmise that in part, he has his Daryl Dixon character to be grateful for. As reported by Gay Star News,
Norman Reedus of "The Walking Dead" has portrayed Dixon's character as someone who is troubled by his sexuality. He has been evading the issue ever since the second season following his conversation with Frank Darabont, one of the creators of the hit TV series. Reedus said that from the beginning, Dixon's insecurities had drawn him.
"The Boondock Saints" star said that he thinks Dixon's character was not a ladies' man or anyone who is confident enough to have such a personality. And that complexity and mysteriousness made him eventually decide to play the character.
But to date, there is no confirmation or whtsoever about Daryl Dixon's character being gay. Fans would have to continue watching the hit horror series to know how his character would develop.
