This could spell fright and horror for PC fans using Windows 7 because after Friday Windows 8.1 will kick in for the consumer market.

"With its heavy emphasis on the Start screen, touch interaction, and the new Modern UI, many longtime desktop users-not to mention IT departments-"preferred Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, shared pcworld.com.

The report on Windows 7 added, "It's no coincidence Microsoft unveiled the much more desktop-friendly Windows 10 mere weeks before the retail death of Windows 7."
