With the series' major starring roles already cast comes news that the supporting roles are being filled out too. The True Detective season 2 cast is now coming together with news that several other actors are in the last stages of negotiations to appear in HBO's hit detective series.
Among those names that reportedly closing in on these meaty roles are Suits actress Abigail Spencer, plus Leven Rambin, who starred in The Hunger Games. Rounding out the True Detective season 2 cast members are Kelly Reilly (who starred with Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), and Michael Irby. According to Deadline, Kelly Reilly will take on a regular role as part of True Detective season 2 cast. The rest of the actors on the other hand, will be portraying recurring roles.
It will be recalled that news came out that Kelly Reilly was actually also up for the female lead role, along with other names such as Rosario Dawson, Brit Marling (Another Earth), Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones), Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, and Jamie Alexander. The female lead role in the True Detective season 2 cast eventually went to Rachel McAdams.
According to Deadline, the second season of HBO's critically acclaimed hit show follows the lives of three cops who will be played by Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) and Rachel McAdams, and a career criminal played by Vince Vaughn, and the complications that arise after a murder happens. Still according to the news outlet, Michael Irby will star as Rachel McAdams' partner, while Leven Rambin will play a woman with a drug history, and Abigail Spencer will star as a sexual abuse survivor.
A table reading with the entire True Detective season 2 cast has been set for Friday, which means that the show really is on a roll and we'll get to see if Nic Pizzolatto's new season will live up to all the hype!
