Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert will be taking over David Letterman to host The Late Show next year. Already, fans are mourning over the impending ending of their favorite satirical news show on the channel, and the host himself has announced when the Colbert Report's last show will be. While promoting the release on paperback version of his new book "America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't", Stephen announced that his last episode will be aired on Thursday, December 18.
"Stephen Colbert, the guy you've seen here every night for nine years will be gone. All you'll have left of me is this book," the host said hitting two birds with one stone -- promoting his book and announcing the upcoming Colbert Report's last show.
Veteran comedian and host Stephen Colbert will be taking over the reins of the long running The Late Show with beloved hosting legend David Letterman. While Dave has not officially announced the last airing of his talk show, Colbert is expected to step in his shoes in 2015.
Meanwhile, after the airing of the Colbert Report's last show, Comedy Central is set to replace it with the show The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore according to The Hollywood Reporter. It willbe remembered that Wilmore has been with Jon Stewart's The Daily Show carrying the tongue in cheek title, "Senior Black Correspondent." In a statement released by Comedy Central, they expressed their excitement at the prospects of this new show. "We are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with Jon Stewart and Busboy Productions, and are looking forward to getting to know Larry Wilmore even better," Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless said. "He's a spectacular talent in front of and behind the camera."
On his end, the Colbert Report last show will mean that Wilmore will have to move from Los Angeles to New York for his filming of his new Comedy Central show. "I love the city of New York and promise to only wear my Lakers T-shirts when I'm layering," Wilmore joked.
