Halloween seemed a fitting time for JK Rowling's new Harry Potter stories to be released and (just like their reaction to the Potter-related game the author started on Twitter last time) fans were more than grateful for the surprise.

Rowling added six new stories through the franchise's interactive website, Pottermore. She unlocked new secrets from the fantastical world that concerned Dolores Umbridge, Professor Sybil Trelawney, the relationship between Ministers of Magic and Muggle Prime Ministers, seers, thestrals, and the wizard prison Azakban!

A fan posted on Twitter in regards to the news, "Better than chocolate? A new @pottermore story being released for Halloween today!!"

Another wrote on the social media site, "Thank you @jk_rowling for the wonderful, new Harry Potter story today."

The incredible author didn't make the discovery easy though. She buried each story deep within Pottermore in a series of clues. Fans who have an account in the site know how it works, which involves sleuthing skills and a pair of very observant eyes.

Dolores Umbridge's back story can be found in one of the chapters of Book 5. The despicable ministry worker was despised in the books (and movies) but her past only serves to make her even more hated. She considers herself a pureblood, despite being born to a mother with a Muggle bloodline. Rowling, herself, dislikes the character in the "purest" form.

One Twitter user said, "[Dolores] Umbridge is totally scarier than Voldemort."

Another didn't quite appreciate sharing something with the pink-obsessed villain: "Wait. I share a birthday with UMBRIDGE? No bueno, @jk_rowling!"

Professor Sybil Trelawney's story, on the hand, helped fans sympathize with the eccentric woman's life. Although "90% fraud," Dumbledore was able to see the potential she was unaware of. She was also once married but that ended when she refused to take up her husband's name to replace her own.

One reader identifies with Trelawney the most, tweeting, "I think Professor Trelawney is my alter ego."

JK Rowling's new Harry Potter stories also gave new insights to the working relationship between Ministers of Magic and Muggle Prime Ministers. Thestrals, which can only be seen by people who saw others die, is actually only visible to wizards and witches who actually understood and accepted the concept of death.

Azkaban had a very dark past, being owned by an unknown but very cruel wizard. The dark magician, Ekrizdis lured sailors - magical or not - and tortured them in the castle.

Meanwhile, the magical world used to visit seers to name their children but the tradition has already died down. Parents don't want to burden children with their name's fate.
