Many fans are wondering what the "Ghostbusters 3" trailer would look like if it would feature actresses instead of actors. We all know that the success of the two "Ghostbusters" movies were partly because of their lead stars played by Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler), and Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore).
These guys became a household name because of Ivan Reitman's blockbuster films so doing another sequel without them is a huge risk. Paul Feig is ready to take that risk as he was asked by the producers to direct the third installment. Instead of re-casting Murray, Aykroyd, and Hudson, he decided to take a different approach.
The "Bridesmaids" director told EW, "My favorite thing to do is work with funny women. I was like, 'what if it was an all-female cast? If they were all women?' Suddenly, my mind kind of exploded: that would be really fun."
Paul Feig also revealed his plans of making a remake instead of following the story of the previous "Ghostbusters" films. He said, "Let's just restart it because then we can have new dynamics. I want the technology to be even cooler."
The director also explained, "I think funny people in peril and in danger is one of the best forms of comedy, and I really like things to play very real while funny things are happening. So that's what both Katie [Dippold] and I really want to do with this one is make it crazy funny but also you're scared at the same time."
Since Paul Feig had confirmed that he will be getting hilarious women to star in the reboot, some student filmmakers tried to give us a sneak peek of how the "Ghostbusters 3" trailer would look like. CBC News reported that the students from a suburb in Boston did a remake of the original trailer wherein girls played as ghost hunters while the boys took over the women's role.
