Disney is bringing this well loved -- if irreverent -- musical to the big screen, and today they have just released some brand new movie posters with a twist. Though the characters are not exactly flitting in and out of the poster's frame, or moving in any discernible way -- as in the pictures described in the Harry Potter books, there is that eerie, and very subtle shadowy and glittery movement from the posters of the Into The Woods movie cast. It's the perfect atmospheric touch to the theme of the movie itself. See the posters on Vanity Fair here.
These brand new posters feature Meryl Streep as the terrifying witch, Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf (hiding behind a tree again), James Corden's The Baker, Emily Blunt as The Baker's Wife, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as The Prince, Jack And the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel.
The story of course revolves around these beloved fairy tale characters, but puts a little twist on their traditional story and plot lines. The Into The Woods movie cast have been quick to point out that the theme revolves around the notion of "Be careful what you wish for." Edge Of Tomorrow's Emily Blunt describes the movie as unlike anything that Disney is traditionally known for. "It is a very un-Disney film," the actress shared in an interview with Variety. "It is very funny, very human. I think kids will enjoy it but there are adult themes running through it."
Rob Marshall (Chicago, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) directs the star studded Into The Woods movie cast.
Meanwhile, to coincide with the movie's December opening, the original cast from Broadway of Into The Woods is coming together for a reunion concert. Bernadette Peters, who played the witch, plus director James Lapine, and composer Stephan Sondheim, and some other cast members will get together for a "concert and conversation" at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa California.
Into The Woods will hit theaters on December 25.
