Are Twitter Users Turning Against Taylor Swift Because Of Spotify Conflict?

Taylor Swift pulled her entire catalog from Spotify earlier this week.

Since the "1989" hitmaker pulled her songs from the music-streaming application, several Twitter users have slowly begun to express their thoughts on the pop singer's recent decision.

"Swifty knows what Spotify is, right? Also, the next musician who does this and says its about 'art' needs a slap," wrote Twitter user Alex.

Fellow Twitter user John Anthony commented, "Sorry @taylorswift13, I was actually really just starting to like you but as far as I'm concerned if it's not on @Spotify it doesn't exist."

Taylor Swift was somewhat of a queen on Spotify, with her latest single "Shake It Off" being its most played song, according to CBS News. The "Out Of The Woods" singer made the decision to explain her recent choice on Yahoo Music as she received backlash from fans.

"Music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment," stated Swift.

She continued, "And I'm not willing to contribute my life's work to an experiment that I don't feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music."

The "Dear John" singer added, "Also, a lot of people were suggesting to me that I try putting new music on Spotify with 'Shake It Off,' and so I was open-minded about it. I thought, 'I will try this; I'll see how it feels.' It didn't feel right to me."

Despite the backlash, loyal Taylor Swift fans have supported the 24-year-old's recent choice to take her music off Spotify.

"Couldn't be more proud of @taylorswift13 & the stance she's taking against Spotify and streaming. It's criminal how much writers are paid," wrote Twitter user Zach Pincus.
